The 24 finalists of the 2019 Sony Alpha Awards have been announced.

Open to photographers shooting Sony Alpha cameras and lenses, the award has a selection of nine categories: Portrait, Landscape, Nature, Sport and Youth, and for the first time in 2019; Seascape, Astrophotography, Wedding and City / Street.

Photographers are competing for $2,000 of Sony digital imaging gear per category, with each of the category winners also having the chance to win the overall Grand Prize - $10,000 worth of Sony digital imaging gear.

As well as the wider competition, a standalone Youth competition is aimed at recognising young Australian and New Zealand photographers aged 11-18 years old.

The winners will be announced on Thursday night at the annual Sony Alpha Awards in Sydney.
