Congratulations to Mike George who has won our September ‘Water’ photo competition for his photograph titled Run!, as judged by our guest judge, photographer Darran Leal

Water needs to be what hits you as a viewer and as a judge, I need to stick to that boundary. It needs to be eye catching, well processed, visually well balanced and have a WOW factor.

Commenting on why he chose Mike's image:

What a strong water image with a balance of people to show size and power of the water. Very well balanced image and great B&W processing. This image makes you either want to have been the photographer with that opportunity, or one of the people in the shot. (The last point was a joke.)

As winner, Mike takes home an amazing Datacolour SpyderX monitor calibration system valued at $330 thanks to our great sponsors Datacolour.

Darran also gave special mentions to Water Drops Reflection Macro Flower by Di Lymbury, Glacial Ice meets the cold Atlantic by Cameron Hanks and Dew by Andrew Lake.

Over on Facebook, our people's choice winner, Jonas Ostersen, has convincingly taken home the win with his image Enter the void, which garnered more than 400 likes. Jonas will walk away with the award of a 12-month digital subscription to either Australian Photography or Capture magazine.
