Ricoh in the US has announced the WG-M2 action camera, an update to its original WG-M1, this time with 4K video recording at 30 fps.

The WG-M2 is now submersible to 19.8m/65ft, is 40 per cent smaller and lighter than its predecessor and is able to operate in temperatures as low as -10°C/14°F and will survive falls up to 2m/6.5ft.

The WG-M2 offers a 204-degree lens, and in addition to 4K footage is capable of 1080/60p and 720/120p capture.

Still images are recorded at 8MP, and a 1.5" color LCD offers a live view of recording as well as playback.

The WG-M2 features improved control with start/stop vibration to alert users when recording is underway or stopped.

A selection of mounts and accessories will be available for the WG-M2 which will be released in late April.
