Our featured portfolio of the week profiles some of the entries so far in 2016 Photographer of the Year, the biggest photo competition for amateur photographers in Australasia. It's on now.

Melbourne-based photographer Jane Saddington didn't have to look too far to find an interesting subject to photograph in the 2016 Photographer of the Year Portrait category.

"This series tells my brother's story; his internal conflict of growing up in a Christian family and coming to terms with and acknowledging that [he] was homosexual. Each photo expresses a different emotional struggle he experienced and although not everyone will be able to relate to his story, I think we can all relate to some of the emotions and struggles in our own personal story."
