Photographer of the Year 2021: What's in it for the winners and finalists

Comments Comments

Photographer of the Year continues to be an important event in the Australasian photographic calendar, and a competition that has awarded nearly a quarter of a million dollars in cash and prizes in the eight years we've run the competition.

Many of our previous winners have used Photographer of the Year as a springboard to a career as a professional photographer, and we're proud of the amazing publishing opportunities that come from being recognised in the competition every year.

But really, it's the prizes everyone's thinking about right?

For 2021, the overall winner of Photograper of the Year will join World Photography Adventures on a photography tour in 2022 valued at $5,000 with up to $500 towards flights. In addition, they'll take home a $700 Nokia smartphone, as well as their individual category prize, which includes a share of $10,000 in cash, along with amazing prizes from Haida, BenQ, Camera House, Epson, Sandisk, WD, Nokia, World Photo Adventures and MSI.

In addition, last year we published more than 450 images from the competition in our bumper special Photographer of the Year edition of Australian Photography. You can see an abridged version of last year's mag below.

But that's not all - in previous years our winners have been celebrated digitally by some of Australia's biggest media outlets, including The Guardian, The Telegraph, the Courier Mail, 9 News, and more.

So what are you waiting for? Entries for the biggest competition for amateur photographers in the southern hemisphere are open now. You can find out all the details about the 2021 Photograper of the Year here.
