November 'Family' free monthly photo comp: the results!
Congratulations to Richard Misquitta who has won our November 'Family' photo competition with the image Socks on the Line, as judged by Australian Photography and Capture publisher James Ostinga.
Sharing his thoughts on Richard’s winning entry, James said, “There were lots of great images this month, but Richard Misquitta's 'Socks on the Line' stood out for its creativity, simplicity and story-telling."
James then went on to say, “Sometimes the best photos are the ones that tackle the brief from an unconventional perspective, and Richard has certainly ventured outside the box here with a photo that manages to say 'family' without showing one person."
"Creating something interesting out of the mundane is no easy task, and this image has a rhythm in its composition provided by the perfectly spaced socks, and the flashes of bright colour against the drab, out-of-focus, suburban fence. A simple idea, well executed. Well done!"
As winner, Richard will take home an amazing 500 GB SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD valued at $145, thanks to our wonderful sponsors SanDisk.
Over on Facebook, Matthew McDonald's entry Generations has won Matthew the title of People's Choice Winner.
As People's Choice winner, Matthew has won a 12-month digital subscription to either Australian Photography or Capture magazine.
Our judge James has also given a special mention to the following four entries:
