The results of the 2017 Bird Photographer of the Year were announced recently, with some stunning images from around the world featuring in the winners' circle.
Now in its third year, Bird Photographer of the Year is an international competition with eight separate categories and a top prize of £5,000 (A$8100). Categories include Best Portrait, Birds in the Environment, Attention to Detail, Bird Behaviour, Birds in Flight, Garden and Urban Birds, Creative Imagery, and Young Bird Photographer of the Year. As well, there are two special categories: Best Portfolio and Crowd Choice Award.
