Nikon Australia has announced the launch of the next-generation flagship D5 FX format DSLR camera.

Nikon says its most powerful camera to date has been developed with advanced specifications that include significantly improved moving subject acquisition capabilities and excellent image quality at high sensitivities.

With a host of new features developed by Nikon, the D5 looks to have plenty to offer professional photographers.

The D5 features a new 153-point autofocus (AF) system and a stable viewfinder image for better tracking of moving subjects easy. It offers high-speed continuous shooting at approximately 12 fps.

A new Nikon FX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 5 image-processing engine produce Nikon's highest ever standard ISO sensitivity up to 102400, and allow recording of 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) movies.

The 20.8-megapixel D5 also features a high-resolution touch screen LCD monitor, fast communications with both wired networks via built-in Ethernet connector and wireless networks, alongside double memory card slots for a highly efficient workflow.
