Nikon has announced plans for a new compact camera with a 14x optical zoom lens and a 16-megapixel backside-illuminated CMOS sensor.
The Nikon L610 will feature a 25-350mm (equivalent) zoom lens with macro focussing down to 1cm at the wide-angle setting. Optical image stabilisation will reduce the effects of camera shake in low light and at long zoom settings.
Other key features include a 3in (7.6cm), 460,000-dot LCD and video recording at Full HD 1080p30 resolution. The camera is powered by two AA batteries and weighs 240g.
It will be available in September. Pricing will be announced closer to the release date.
