A new line of electronic and optical viewfinder accessories for DSLR cameras are now available in Australia.

Australian photographers now have access to Kinotehnik electronic and optical viewfinders thanks to a new partnership between the European accessory maker and local photo retailer and distributer Kayell Australia.

The Kinotehnik lineup includes two main products, the LCDVF and LCDVFe. The LCDVF is an optical viewfinder that can be attached to the LCD of most DSLR models to block out stray light and magnify the view to make it easier to shoot video. Kinotehnik claims the effect is like viewing a 42-inch TV from 140cm. The LCDVF attaches via a universal magnetic interface and comes in five different sizes to suit different cameras. The unit ranges in price from $135 to $165 depending on size.

The LCDVFe is a high-resolution electronic viewfinder that connects to a DSLR camera's HDMI output to deliver a real-time digital video display. The unit uses a 24-bit 3in (76mm) LCD screen and is combined with an optical magnifier with a vacuum-laminated, double-element achromatic lens and dioptre adjustment. It comes with the required mounting hardware and retails for $1195.
