New photography exhibition explores Melbourne's industrial landscape

Melbourne photographer Jason Smith's new exhibition, Urbanscape, opens today at the city's Illuminate gallery. 

A series exploring colour and geometry found in Melbourne's urban industrial landscape, Urbanscape is Smith's first solo exhibition.

Smith says the series is not what most people expect.

"If you take a moment to contemplate urban industrial and commercial locations, you may tend to think of bustling, grungy, noxious and polluted landscapes ... I think Fine Art," he says.

Based in Reservoir, Smith is a former finalist in Capture magazine's Australia's Top Emerging Photographer competition.
