In a sign of the times, Panasonic's latest interchangeable-lens camera, the  Lumix DMC-GF7, includes a range of features aimed at selfie shooters including a reversible flip-up touch screen, a number of remote shooting features and even a slimming mode.

The camera houses a 16-megapixel Live MOS Sensor a top ISO setting of 25,600 and a maximum continuous shooting speed of 5.8 frames per second with the mechanical shutter or up to 40fps with the electronic shutter.

Other key features include built-in Wi-Fi (for image transfer and remote control) and video shooting at 1920 x 1080 50p, in AVCHD or MP4 (MPEG-4 / H.264) format with stereo sound.

But it's the selfie features that Panasonic is keen to draw attention to. Once the LCD monitor is flipped up, ‘Self Shot Mode’ is automatically triggered, allowing users to shoot selfies without touching the camera. In Face Shutter mode, the shutter triggers after you wave your hand in front of your face. In Buddy Shutter mode the camera fires when the camera detects two faces next to each other. In either of these modes, the camera can take ae shot immediately, or after a 3-second or 10-second countdown.

There are also several Beauty Modes including Defocusing (blurs the background to reduce distractions and make the face stand out), Soft Skin (bright, fresh skin tones), and Slimming (elongates the image vertically).

The Lumix DMC-GF7 will be available in late February with a retail price of $699 in a choice of pink or black with silver trim.
