New exhibition showcases drone 'Dreamscapes' captured above Victoria
A new exhibition of abstract aerial photographs captured about Victorian salt lakes opens in Melbourne this week.
Wyss, who uses a DJI Mavic 2 Pro, says he seeks out what he describes as ‘contemporary dreaming stories’ that lay hidden in the landscape.
"The work first appears as abstract paintings that play with our imagination," he says. "But as you step closer, the truth of the photographic moment is revealed."
He says his main inspiration comes from aboriginal dot paintings he encountered in the Australian desert as a boy, which use both topographical and symbolic communication of the landscape to tell a story.
Wyss' solo exhibition is made up of a series of limited edition framed prints.
Dreamscapes the exhibition is open now at the Aerie Gallery at Burrinja Cultural Centre, 351 Glenfern Rd, Upwey until September 10, with an artist's talk on August 20 at 11am. Visit aerie.burrinja.org.au/the-gallery/ for more details.
