May 'Seasons' free monthly photo competition: the results!

Congratulations to Nicole Rix who has won our May 'Seasons' photo competition with the image Autumn Colours, as selected by our guest judge, Robert Skidmore.

Sharing his thoughts on Nicole's winning entry, Robert said, "The low angle combined with the strong contrast and vibrant Autumn tones caught my eye immediately. I was also taken by the clear depth of field, which drew my interest all through the image and off into the distance."

He also added, "Limiting the visible path and focusing on the trees and depth really showed a fresh perspective on an always beautiful style of imagery."

As winner, Nicole will take home a 12-month print subscription to either Australian Photography or Capture. 

Over on Facebook, Dani Bentick Fistr's entry Feels Like Summer has won the title of People's Choice. Dani also walks away with a 12-month digital subscription to either Australian Photography or Capture.

About our Guest Judge 

Robert Skidmore is a landscape and extreme weather photographer based in South East Queensland. 
 
With the main focus of his 10 years behind a camera being storm and severe weather imagery.  Robert won the 2016 Heritage bank Photographic Awards with a storm image called "The Monster of November."   With other career highlights such as: featuring in this year's June edition of Australian Photography Magazine, as well as many Weatherzone, media and BOM features with regards to severe weather. 

Robert is also a strong advocate for mental health awareness. He is very public about his own battles with PTSD and depression, and the strong benefits photography has had on his life and wellbeing. You can see his images and stories on Facebook at Mr "S" Photography here or on Instagram here.
