Congratulations to Alan Coligado who has won our March ‘On the Street’ photo competition with his striking image Translucent, as judged by our guest judge, photographer Douwe Dijkstra.

"Beautifully composed image with an almost abstract look and feel. Only when you look closer you understand the context of the scene. Capturing beautiful light is often the making of a good image.

I love how the sun lights up the top part of the image, warming the tones and making the red of the steel and blue of the apron pop. It also adds a striking contrast. The sun also highlights a person coming out of the shadows. Behind the plastic, they appear blurry almost translucent, adding a layer of mystery."

As winner, Alan takes home a Datacolour SpyderX thanks to our great sponsors Kayell.

Over on Facebook, our people's choice winner, Tom Hoy, has convincingly taken home the win with his image Pausewhich gained more than 130 likes. Tom will walk away with the award of a 12-month digital subscription to either Australian Photography or Capture magazine.
