Corbis has announced the winners of its Creatives Behind the Lens competition. The annual competition is open to non-professional photographers working in the
creative industries across Asia Pacific, including Australia, China,
Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
From a field of 600 entries the judges selected the following 10 winning images:
• Diamond Bay – Chris Round, Moon Group (Australia)
• The Unhappy Circus – Chris Round, Moon Group (Australia)
• Rockabilly Comb – Nick Smith, DraftFCB (Australia)
• Old Kid – Darren Martin, Stimulant (Australia)
• A Journey To My Heart – Chan Yi Wang, Leo Burnett (Hong Kong / Taiwan)
• You Are In My Eyes – Cheung Chun Wei, Ideata (Hong Kong / Taiwan)
• Mr Kwok Takes Tea – Darren Hayward, The Wall Street Journal Asia (Hong Kong / Taiwan)
• Love – Leung Yi Long, Fuzhou Jian Mei Design Company Ltd (China)
• Running childhood – Leung Shuang, Zhangchun Yi Wah Printing Factory (China)
• Xia – Tse Fong Yi, Shenzhen Ji Shi Communications Advertising Company Ltd (China)
Australian Chris Round of the Moon Group was the only entrant with two images selected in the top ten.
The competition was judged by Julian Melhuish, Creative Director at Saatchi Design Sydney, Marc Gafen, Editor of Capture magazine, Vince Frost, Founder and Creative Director of Frost Design and Australian Photographer Tamara Dean.
“In 2009, our first year of running the competition in the Asia Pacific region, the entries we received were of an incredibly high standard and among the best in the world, and this year the bar been raised even higher,” said Michele Yeung, Marketing Director for Corbis in Asia Pacific & Global Channel. "We are thrilled to provide this platform for creatives to showcase their photographic talents and creativity outside of their day jobs to some of the industry’s biggest heavyweights.”
