This week, Davies will unveil Shimmer, a new photographic project created with trans and gender diverse young people from Open Doors Youth Service.

The exhibition is part of MELT Festival 2025 and will run at the Museum from 18 October to March 2026.

Known for combining photography with sculptural costumes and vivid colours, Davies worked with 12 participants through a series of creative workshops to design and make handmade costumes.

The resulting portraits highlight self-expression and identity while maintaining the anonymity of those photographed.

The finished works will be displayed in the Museum’s Fairfax Gallery and in public spaces across Brisbane during MELT Festival. The outdoor installations aim to bring the portraits to a wider audience and reflect the diversity and creativity of Brisbane’s trans and gender diverse communities.
