Sydney camera
store, Foto Riesel, has opened a new gallery space at its Kent Street premises.
The new Photographer’s Gallery will feature work by
local professional and amateur photographers and aims to run between four and
six exhibitions per year.
“This is
not just a gallery space," said Foto Riesel’s Managing Director, John
Wallace. "The concept enables the
photographic community to be inspired while learning the best techniques in the
business…This is about bringing photographers together, inspiring them and
showcasing the best techniques available across all areas of photography. We
want passionate photographers to learn about printing, calibration, how to
curate an exhibition and how to hang their images to get the best out of their
work."
The gallery’s first exhibition
features images by prominent Australian Leica users including Stephen Dupont, Andrew
Quilty, Tobi Wilkinson Paul Daniels and Liz Loh-Taylor. It runs from Thursday
4 July to 26 September. Entry is free.
