The winner of the australianphotography.com March 'Eyes' photo competition is Filippo Rivetti, who took the top prize for his black-and-white image 'Eyes', which captured the intense and guileless gaze of a young girl. This month's judge, award-winning professional portrait and advertising photographer David Knight, lauded Rivetti's image for its unassuming simplicity and its ability to engage viewers.

"During the process of judging the entries, ‘Eyes,’ by Filippo Rivetti stood out," commented Knight. "When I view an image I am looking for an emotional response. I was drawn to this simple, unpretentious image, which left me wanting to know more about the subject."

Rivetti has won a $250 voucher for a Deluxe Photobook from leading Australian photo book maker Momento.

A full list of shortlisted images from the March 'Eyes' competition is published below.
