Epson has launched a new range of home printers that ship with up to two years of printer ink. The new EcoTank range of home phinters use high-capacity refillable ink tanks, rather than all-in-one ink cartridges, which means they can print upwards of 10,000 pages before a refill is required.

When a refill is required, high-volume ink bottles can be purchased for $16.99 (except the large black ink bottle for the ET-4550 which costs $24.99). The replacement bottles for the ET-2500, ET-2550 and ET-4500 hold enough ink to print 4,000 pages in black and 6,500 pages in colour, while the bottles for the flagship ET-4550, which includes a larger black ink bottle, can print 6,000 pages in black and 6,500 pages in colour.

All printers in the range offer wireless printing, including from from iOS and Android phones and tablets with Epson’s free iPrint app. Scan and copy functions are also available.

The entry-level ET-2500 retails for $449, while the larger ET-2550, which includes a 1.44-inch colour LCD and a wider range of connectivity options (including Apple AirPrint), retails for $499. The ET-4500 ($599), offers the same features as the ET-2550 but adds a 30-page automatic document feeder for copying, scanning and faxing and a larger 2.2-inch mono LCD screen. The top-of-the-line ET-4550 ($699) adds a larger black ink tank, auto two-sided printing, and 150-sheet paper capacity.
