DJI's futuristic new HQ will have its own skybridge
Chinese drone manufacturer DJI have unvealed plans for a new futuristic HQ in Shenzhen, Guangdong.
The enormous new twin tower project will feature huge indoor drone flight testing spaces as well as a skybridge connecting the towers, which can be used for showcasing drones and technologies.
On the back of $2.83 billion in revenue in 2017 and needing to house a growing workforce of more than 6,000 employees, the new 194m, 160,000m² headquarters have been designed by architectural firm Foster + Partners.
With vast indoor spaces unobstructed by columns, which we figure might send drones' collision detection into overload, the workplace looks perfect for drone flying.
Foster + Partners say the new building defies the traditional idea of office space to form a ‘creative community in the sky’.
“The floors are arranged in floating volumes cantilevered from central cores by large steel megatrusses – creating large, column-free spaces throughout, with unique quadruple-height drone flight testing labs,” says the architectural firm.
The skybridge will have an opening in the bottom for drones to be launched from, and there will also be launchpads on two rooftop gardens.
