The sublime underwater images of Ronnie Heng will grace the walls of Blank Space Gallery in Surry Hills from 27 June to 10 July 2015.

The collection of mostly black and white photographs transport the viewer to the oceans of West Papua and West Sumatra, with a series of stark images of ocean wildlife including schools of yellowtail barracuda and giant manta ray.

Heng grew up near the coast in Penang, Malaysia, but it was not until his first diving trip with his brother in 2009, not long after their mother passed away, that he started to take underwater photography seriously.

Heng has been based in Australia since 2000 and recently returned from a trip to Fiji where he dived with sharks, adding more remarkable images to his portfolio.

All images in the exhibition are printed large scale on cotton-rag archival photographic paper.
