David Lynch's camera gear (and other stuff) is up for sale

Personal effects of the late, great director David Lynch are up for auction, after the legendary Hollywood director passed away at 78 earlier this year.

Wildly innovative, his films are considered some of the most experimental and unique ever produced in Hollywood - Blue Velvet, Erasherhead, Mulholland Drive and the original Dune film (not the remake), among many others, are the stuff of film legend.

At the same time, Lynch also created the cult TV series Twin Peaks, a show that still has people questioning its meaning decades later.

So, we were interested to see that items from his estate have come up for sale, and there's now a chance for everyday fans to own some of Lynch's camera and filmmaking gear.

Julien's Auctions in Los Angeles has listed over 400 items from the David Lynch Collection.

Included in the auction is Lynch's Canon 5D Mark III and and Sony a7R II and a7S II cameras, complete with E-Mount glass and a Lensbaby lens.

In addition, there's a bunch of other interesting gear, including a rare Hasselblad Lunar, which appears to have a prototype lens labeled "No. 015.", and even a selection of SD cards, which may (or may not!) have work captured by Lynch on them.

In the wide-ranging auction there are also scripts and props from some of his films and TV shows, so if you've ever wanted to own a set of 10 (with nine of them unopened!) VHS tapes of Eraserhead, this is your chance. 

There are also musical instruments, books, art and even his coffee making gear.

Interestingly, away from film, Lynch was also a keen furniture designer, and there's a variety of different power tools available, including jet sanders, drill presses and table saws.
