National Geographic Live will feature presentations by underwater photographer David Doubilet and adventure film-maker Bryan Smith.

The 2014 National Geographic Live series will feature renowned underwater photographer David Doubilet and documentary film-maker Bryan Smith, with events running from July 27 through to October 14 in Sydney, Melbourne, and for the first time Perth and Wollongong. Both will also appear in the New Zealand cities of Auckland and Wellington.

National Geographic photographer David Doubilet and film-maker Bryan Smith will share stories about their image-making and adventures, at Australian venues including the Concert Hall of Sydney Opera House and the Hamer Hall at the Arts Centre Melbourne. Recounting their experiences as correspondents for National Geographic magazine and the National Geographic Channel, Doubilet and Smith will explain how they captured their dramatic images and video. The inspiring and lavishly presented audio-visual show will attract anyone who is interested in nature, adventure, exploration, and high-quality photography.

Doubilet’s presentation “Coral, Fire & Ice” covers images from three continents, including underwater images of Kimbe Bay, Papua New Guinea, which is considered part of the “Coral Triangle”, the centre of the world for marine diversity. He also shows images from Antarctica, including the wildlife, shipwrecks, and icebergs of the region. His last segment covers Canada’s Gulf of St Lawrence and its whales, salmon and harp seals.

Bryan Smith presents "Extreme Adventure on the Edge: Vertical Feats and the Man Who Can Fly," stories and excerpts from his documentary films covering subjects as wide-ranging as whitewater adventure in Canada’s British Columbia region, and chasing the dream of human flight.

National Geographic Live is the 'live events' division of the National Geographic Society. Olympus Imaging Australia is the photography and audio sponsor of the event.
