Canon’s new compact PowerShot N 'social media'
camera is tiny, measuring 78.6 x 60.2 x 29.3mm when the screen and lens are
closed. Canon says the PowerShot N's square body and tilting touch screen might
look unusual, but its design features make it ideal for social media shooters.
It also offers one-touch connectivity to smartphones and tablets for quick sharing.
Key features of the PowerShot N also include its Creative Shot mode and the
Mobile Device Connect button. Using the camera's Creative Shot mode, the
PowerShot N analyses the scene and determines which elements could enhance the
scene. Alternatively, filters can be added to a single shot, including
Miniature Effect, Soft Focus, Toy Camera Effect and Monochrome.
With the Mobile Device Connect button, users can upload
images or videos to social media platforms like Facebook or YouTube, and add
location information from a GPS-enabled smartphone or tablet using the free
Canon smartphone app. The 7.1 cm (2.8in) tilting touch screen allows users to
control essential functions, such as focus or the shutter, with a simple touch,
and review their images with familiar intuitive gestures.
The PowerShot N uses much of Canon’s latest imaging
technology for its stills and movies. Combining a12.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor and
an advanced DiG!C 5 image processor, the HS SYSTEM in this camera supports a
maximum ISO of 6400 to produce sharp and clear images in low-light conditions. The 8x optical zoom lens uses Intelligent IS, which
automatically applies the most appropriate image stabilisation for smooth video
and sharp stills. Complementing the still images, Full HD video (1080p) can be
recorded with stereo sound.
