A community project turning the spotlight on homelessness are currently crowdfunding for support to promote the work of 95 photographers.

Community project MySydney are raising funds for their 2016 calendar on Kickstarter, with their aim to raise $6,000 AUD to fund the first installment of the printing and production costs of the 2017 edition of the calendar.

The photography competition saw 95 people affected by homelessness take pictures over 5 days using 95 FujiFilm single-use cameras. Each participant was asked to take pictures of what was meaningful to them, with no theme other than the title of "My Sydney".

The photos have now been exhibited, voted on (both by critic photographers including Australian Photography magazine, and the public) and compiled into the 2017 MySydney calendar.

The final 20 images are currently being exhibited in Newtown at Lentil As Anything, King Street, until 30th October 2016.

The top 13 images as selected by the public at the exhibition will be printed in the 2017 MySydney Calendar. The calendar will also feature stories about each photographer and their thoughts behind their image. This serves as the primary platform to link the artists and their work to the wider community.

Run by Café Art Australia, the project has several goals:

•To empower people affected by homelessness, through their art and through deepening their connection with members of the wider public they don't normally interact with.

 • To tell the stories of individuals who are affected by homelessness,

 • To raise awareness of the general public to challenges experienced by those impacted by homelessness from the personal perspective of the participants.
