Following on from the current Photobook festival now running in Melbourne, Stills Gallery in Sydney is holding its own event in March.

Stills Gallery in Sydney is staging ‘Bookmarked’, its own photo book event, following on from the currently running Photobook Festival in Melbourne. Bookmarked, with a strong line-up of top professional photographers’ work, will run from March 4 to 28. A photo book fair will run on March 7, and renowned Australian photojournalist Stephen Dupont will also give an artist’s talk on the same evening.

Organisers say the event will “celebrate artist books in all their forms, from handcrafted one-offs to self-published photobooks, sculptural creations and vintage punk fanzines.” Bookmarked is a curated group exhibition and it will also feature a display of nearly 50 books on loan from the Asia Pacific Photobook Archive. Curators have set aside an area at the gallery with seats so visitors can relax and look through these rarely seen publications.

From publications which almost resemble sculptures by Kurt Schranzer to outstanding pictorial displays by Dupont and Australia’s only Magnum Photo Agency photographer Trent Parke, the works on show at the gallery will be diverse and outstanding.

The exhibition also includes work by Diedre Brollo, Danny Digby, Anne Ferran, Chris Fortescue, Nicholas Jones, Sarah McConnell, Louis Porter, Madeleine Preston, and Teo Treloar.

For more information contact the gallery on Ph: 02 9331 7775 or info@stillsgallery.com.au. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Saturday, from 11am to 5pm, or by appointment.

Danny Digby's 'Endpaper' prints and book explore photographs of artist monographs found in public libraries, complete with date-stamped loan cards and all the scuffs and scars of repeated use.

Diedre Brollo's hand-made book 'Fathom' is concerned with the precarious nature of sea voyages.
