The Blocks Camera is the first modular digital camera that can shoot 360-degree, 3D and 2D images. There's just one problem – it doesn't exist.

The designers of a unique camera that promises to deliver 360-degree, 3D and 2D videos and still images, are hoping to secure up to $200,000 in public funding to take the product from design phase to production.

The Blocks Camera uses an unusual modular design that can be set up with three lenses for 360° shooting, two for 3D, or one for conventional video and stills.

Aimed at the action camera segment, proposed specs include built-in Wi-Fi for remote shooting and image transfer, built-in GPS, 3D stereo sound, internal gyroscope for image stabilisation, and the ability to capture 4K video or 12-megapixel stills at 10 frames per second.

At the time of writing, the camera's makers had raised $9,000 of their $200,000 goal with donations set to close on 30 December 2014.
