AP's free monthly photo comp July '26 'Colour' - The winners!

Congratulations to Jo Sorrenson, whose image Feel the Atmosphere has won AP's free monthly photo competition for July 2026.

We chose this image because it captures the energy and atmosphere of a live performance particularly well. Photographing a band indoors can be challenging, with constantly changing light, movement and often limited space, but Jo has handled those conditions impressively. The image also feels immediate and immersive, drawing us into the performance and conveying a great sense of atmosphere.

Jo wins a Leofoto backpack valued at $239, thanks to our friends at Leofoto Australia and New Zealand.

Over on Facebook, our People's Choice winner was Simon Madden, whose image received 69 votes at competition close. Simon wins a 12-month digital subscription to AP magazine for taking out the People's Choice.
