Adobe has released the beta version of Photoshop CS6, offering the image-editing software as a free download in an effort to collect feedback before the full version is released in May or June.

Key changes include additional Content-Aware tools, a new camera raw engine with better highlight and shadow recovery, faster overall performance when applying filters, a redesigned user interface, and new video editing features.

Adobe says the full version of Photoshop CS6 will be “released in the first half of 2012”. When the final version becomes available the beta will stop working.

In the video below, Adobe Photoshop guru Russell Brown, lists his six favorite features from the beta, including Adobe Camera Raw 7.0, Adaptive Wide Angle and the Content-Aware Move and Patch tools. The delivery is a little over-the-top but it's a good demo of what the new software can do.
