For the first time in the history of the Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize, the top award will be shared equally among four photographers – Kelsey Austin Walsh, Tobias Titz, Ashleigh Bradley and Jacqui Stockdale. Each of the prize winners will receive $25,000.

The judge of the 2012 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize was Graham Howe, CEO of Curatorial Assistance and Founding Director of The Australian Centre for Photography.

Five Highly Commended prizes of $2,000 were awarded in the Open section to Victoria Brooks, Emma Phillips, Lilli Waters, Stuart Zeigler, and Julia Wolkenstein.

In the secondary schools section, Isabella Paice-Whear from Robina on the Gold Coast won $2,000 for “G-Nome” (Years 7-8); Megan Eichinger from Wyne Vale, SA, won $3,000 for “Camping” (Years 9-10) and Alex Winner, from Fletcher, won $5,000 for “Introspection” (Years 11-12). Finalists in the Secondary Schools section receive $200 while primary school finalists receive photographic equipment.

The Moran Prizes exhibition commences 25 July 2012 at 13-15 Bridge Street, Sydney. The exhibition will run for 12 weeks in Sydney before touring nationally.
