Now in its eighth year, the prestigious savewater! awards recognise and reward excellence in water conservation and efficiency by business, government, schools, local communities and individuals. This year 15 finalists were selected from over 1100 photographs from across Australia and internationally from a panel of independent judges headed by environmental consultant Rob Gell.

“This year there are beautiful photographs from all over the world, with so many different representations of water conservation from diverse geographic locations,” said Nigel Finney, CEO of the savewater! Alliance. “We are extremely impressed with the exceptional international response, as this was the first year we opened the photographic category worldwide.”

A strong visual response to the global water crisis has been recognised with the Open Category winning image “Collecting Water” by Avijit Bhakta (India). Other winners include Australian students India Martin-Cogger (Senior Photography) and Elijah Firth (Junior Photography).
