You can now vote for your ultimate Fujifilm dream lens
Fujifilm has hosted its “Focus on Glass: Untold Stories” event overnight, sharing new details about its existing X Mount lenses and offering a glimpse at several lens concepts the company is considering for the future.
But what's more interesting than all that is they want your input to help decide which of them become reality.
Yes, that's right - Fujifilm is seeking feedback on the lenses it should develop next.
It's worth noting that none of the proposed lenses are currently in development, although Fujifilm says the crowdsourced feedback will help guide its long-term planning.
According to Yuji Igarashi, Divisional Manager of Fujifilm’s Professional Imaging Group, discussion around the concepts will help indicate “what the future may hold for X Mount lenses.”
As Fujifilm explains, the concepts are not simply speculative ideas though. Fujifilm says the designs represent realistic and plausible additions to the Fujifilm X Mount system that the company is actively evaluating.
To gauge interest, Fujifilm has opened a public vote where photographers can choose the concepts that appeal to them most.
Each participant can vote for up to three lenses, including some pretty wild glass like a 33mm f1.0 and 18-50mm f1.4, along with some truly out there concepts like a Soft Focus lens with a porous aperture design.
As Fujifilm explains, rather than having a solid aperture, its proposed porous aperture lens has a bunch of holes in it, akin to a lotus root, as the company describes it. Images captured with the lens have a serious amount of haze and atmosphere.
“It would probably be a truly one-of-a-kind look,” Fujifilm says.
All this begs the question - what would you vote for?
