Viltrox adds two fast primes to EVO lineup
Viltrox has rolled out a pair of new primes, adding a 35mm and 55mm option to its growing EVO series for Sony FE and Nikon Z shooters.
The AF 35mm F1.8 EVO and AF 55mm F1.8 EVO will be shown publicly at NAB Show 2026, where the brand is pitching a broader push into tools that bridge stills and video.
The 35mm is the everyday all-rounder of the two. With a 63-degree field of view, it’s aimed at street, travel and environmental portrait work, with a 0.34m minimum focus distance for getting in close.
It’s built around a 13-element optical design with an APO-style layout to keep colour fringing in check, and uses an STM motor for quick, quiet autofocus. The all-metal body keeps things compact but solid.
The 55mm F1.8 EVO leans more into portraits and detail work, offering a natural-looking perspective and the shallow depth of field you’d expect at f/1.8. It focuses down to 0.43m and shares the same 13-element, APO-type design as the 35mm to maintain sharpness and control aberrations. Autofocus is again STM-driven, with a similar lightweight metal build.
Both lenses are clearly aimed at hybrid shooters who want fast glass that can handle stills and video without fuss.
The AF 35mm F1.8 EVO will retail for $395 USD ($550 AUD), and the AF 55mm F1.8 EVO for $370 USD ($515 AUD).
We hope to review the AF 35mm F1.8 EVO soon. In the meantime, you can find out more at Viltrox.
