Video: What's next for Pentax?
Pentax hasn’t released a new digital camera in three years, and its last full-frame DSLR, the K-1 II, is (remarkably) now eight years old.
And yet the brand retains a committed squad of diehard fans who deserve, in our opinion at least, to rewarded for their patience and treated to something new from the Japanese company. But when will they ever get to see anything?
In this great video, YouTuber James Warner takes a look at where the brand stands in 2026, from a possible K-1 Mark III to fresh film cameras and even bold ideas like a modern Pentax Q.
We'll be the first to admit we don't often like to publish rumour-mill type content, but James has some really valid points and offers up a pretty tantalising future of what Pentax could look like, if it wanted to.
One idea that we would love to see is a premium compact, something like 1994's Ricoh R1, that could merge the best tech of the Ricoh GR with some of that special Pentax magic - ahhh, we can only dream....
Anyway, check out the video above, and let us know what you'd like to see next from Pentax.
