Venus Optics announces Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift lens
Venus Optics has announced the new Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift lens.
Aimed at architectural photographers, the new lens offers an ultra-wide angle of view and promises incredible sharpness with close-to-zero optical distortion (hence the name).
The lens provides a plus or minus 11mm shift on full-frame cameras, and has a 94.4-degree angle of view that extends to up to 117-degrees when used for panoramic photography.
Featuring 16 elements in 11 groups with two aspherical elements and three ED elements, the lens array is optimised to limit CA and provide consistent image sharpness, although the lens also comes with a 360° rotatable lens hood to manage flare and protect the front element, which can also be adjusted to avoid blocking the image during extreme shifts.
The Laowa 20mm f/4 Zero-D Shift has a minimum focusing distance of 25cm, and takes an 82mm filter. A 14-blade aperture creates smooth and circular bokeh.
The new lens is available now direct from via the Venus Optics official website and authorised resellers. It has an RRP of US$1299.
