Lens manufacturer Tamron has announced three new lenses headed to our shores, the 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2, 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD and 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD.

Starting with the 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 (Model A063), this new general purpose zoom lens is designed for Sony E-mount, and features 17 elements in 15 groups. The lens features two LD (Low Dispersion) and GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements to control optical aberrations and ensure high resolution across the zoom range.

Autofocus is driven by an VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus that Tamron says is twice as fast as its predecessor the A036.

The lens weighs 540g and has an RRP of $1599 AUD.

The next off the blocks is the 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD (Model A058) lens. Inside are four LD (Low Dispersion) and three GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) lens elements. It features the features the same VXD linear motor focus, and has a moisture-resistant construction, a fluorine coating on the front element. It weighs 1,165g and will set you back $2299 AUD.

Finally, the new Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD lens is designed for Fujifilm and Sony cropped-sensor cameras, and becomes the first 16.6x all-in-one zoom lens in this class, covering an equivalent 35mm focal length of 27mm to 450mm.

Like the others, it uses Tamron’s VXD linear motor focus mechanism, and features a proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) stabilisation system. The optical design is made up of 19 elements in 15 groups and includes three hybrid aspherical elements and four LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements. It weighs a spritely 620g and retails for $1199 AUD.

All three of the new lenses will be available from late October. You can find out more about the new glass at Tamron.com.au.
