Tamron announces new 17-28mm f/2.8 lens for Sony E-mount

Comments Comments

Tamron have announced a new large aperture, ultra wide-angle zoom lens for Sony E-mount cameras, the 17-28mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A046).

The new lens features a filter diameter of 67mm, weighs just 420g, and measures a stubby 99mm.

With a large F/2.8 aperture throughout the entire zoom range, the combination of ultra wide-angle focal length, large constant F/2.8 aperture and an MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 0.19m at the wide-angle end should encourage 'richly expressive and creative photography in a multitude of scenarios,' according to the company.

The new 17-28mm zoom’s AF drive system is powered by the RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) stepping motor unit, which should make it suitable for shooting virtually noise-free video as well as stills.

In addition, the new zoom lens features Moisture-Resistant Construction and a hydrophobic Fluorine Coating that repels fingerprints and dirt. The lens is compatible with various camera-specific features including Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF.

The new lens will be launched on July 25, 2019 with an RRP of $1,699.00 AUD. You can find out more via local distributor Blonde Robot.
