Synology announces 8TB BeeStation Plus

Synology has announced the launch of BeeStation Plus, the latest model in its BeeStation lineup. The new device includes 8 TB of storage and delivers up to 4.8 times the performance of the original BeeStation, according to Synology.

“The BeeStation lineup was designed to let everyday users benefit from a cloud-like environment without needing advanced storage or networking knowledge,” said Mayi, Product Manager at Synology.

“Since launching the first BeeStation, we’ve seen increased interest in larger storage and more features to support shared use. BeeStation Plus is a response to that feedback.”

BeeStation Plus offers automatic backups from multiple sources including phones, computers, external drives, and cloud photo libraries. It also includes on-device AI photo recognition, allowing users to sort and find images without relying on cloud processing or storage.

The device supports file organisation and sharing from various inputs and integrates with Plex Media Server, enabling personal media libraries to be accessed across devices such as TVs, tablets, and smartphones.

For data protection, BeeStation Plus features snapshot-based restore points and includes a three-month trial of Synology’s BeeProtect cloud backup service, which provides offsite backup with end-to-end encryption.

BeeStation Plus is available starting today through the Synology website and authorised partners and resellers.
