Sony launches FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS
Sony has announced the FE 100mm F2.8 G Master Macro, its first G Master lens designed for macro photography. The lens offers 1.4× native magnification and supports teleconverters for up to 2.8× life-size reproduction.
Building on the long-running FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS, the new 100mm model adds a little more reach and a higher reproduction ratio.
It’s aimed at photographers who need greater detail and precision for subjects such as insects, plants or small products.

The optical design includes 17 elements in 13 groups, with two XA (extreme aspherical) and two ED (extra-low dispersion) elements to help control aberrations and maintain image clarity.
An 11-blade circular aperture is designed to produce smooth out-of-focus areas, and Sony’s Nano AR Coating II reduces reflections and ghosting.
Autofocus is powered by four XD linear motors, offering faster and quieter performance than the 90mm Macro. The lens also includes Optical SteadyShot stabilization, which works with in-body stabilization for improved handheld shooting.

Controls include a sliding focus ring for AF/MF selection, focus limiter, full-time DMF switch, and aperture ring with click/de-click options for stills or video. The lens is weather-sealed and features a fluorine-coated front element.
Weighing 646 g and using 67mm filters, the FE 100mm F2.8 G Master Macro will be available from November 2025. It'll set you back $2,599.
