Sony announce 20mm F1.8 G lens for E-mount

Sony have announced a new full-frame E-mount lens, the 20mm F1.8 G, a fast wide-angle prime that weighs just 373g.

Inside are two 'advanced aspheric' and three extra-low dispersion elements, along with nine aperture blades.

Powering the autofocus is an 'XD' linear focus motor that Sony says offers silent and swift autofocus operation.  The lens has a minimum focus distance of 19cm, and you can also use the built-in manual focus ring (linear response) when focussing. Other features include a de-clickable aperture control ring and user-assignable focus hold button.

In terms of build the lens is dust and moisture resistant, and will accept 67mm filters.

Local pricing has not been confirmed yet, but the lens should go on sale in March, and will retail for $1,699.00.
