According to the company, the lens will feature a new optical design intended to maintain high resolution at its maximum aperture, making it suited to portrait photography where shallow depth of field is often preferred. The F1.2 aperture is also expected to provide flexibility for low-light shooting.

Sigma says the lens is being developed with a relatively compact and manageable design for its class. Autofocus will be driven by a dual HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) system, aimed at delivering fast and accurate focusing for stills and video.

With this development announcement, Sigma says the new lens will complete its F1.2 Art-series prime lens lineup, joining the Sigma 35mm F1.2 DG II Art and the Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art.

The new lens will be available in both Sony E and Nikon Z mount, from September. Keep an eye on Sigma's website for more info.
