Constructed of 13 elements in 11 groups, the lens features six special optical lenses, including three extra-low dispersion lenses, two high-refractive index lenses, and one ultra-precision aspherical lens. The combination of the three lens types help deliver excellent sharpness and contrast, while helping manage chromatic aberration, according to the company.

The lens has a close focusing distance of 0.69 metres and a maximum magnification of 0.243x.

On its exterior, the lens features a focus hold button that allows the lens to lock to a particular focusing distance and can also be assigned with functions such as Eye AF from the camera menu. The lens also features an additional custom switch that can be set to allow adjustment of the aperture silently by rotating the focus ring.

The AF 135mm f/1.8 is weather sealed, and uses a linear stepping motor to drive its autofocus system.

The Samyang AF 135mm f/1.8 FE is available for pre-order directly from local Samyang distributor Maxxum for $1,699. The lens is expected to be available in the next few weeks.
