Have you ever wanted to turn your mirrorless camera into a dedicated cine-style box camera? Well, thanks to new Australian company Rigid.Pro, you can.

While many aspiring videographers may wish for a dedicated, box-style camera, these are often expensive devices.

It means the majority of videographers will likely start out with a compact mirrorless camera, and while there's many cage options on the marker for these devices, until now there's been few options to handle the vast number of accessories that many videographers will soon acquire - think audio recording accessories, microphones, focus motors, external monitors, and wireless transmissions.

That's where the Rigid.Pro modular camera system comes in. Rigid.PRO converts a mirrorless camera into a box-style camera platform with just a few screws.

The Rigid.PRO Cinerig Base allows users to add a single point of all-day power with the choice of V-mount or AB Gold Mount and four D-tap power outlets for connecting microphones, field recorders, external monitors, and the camera itself.

A single master power switch can power up the entire rig or completely isolate all components from the battery when turned off, avoiding battery drain.

In addition, an LED monitor displays the master battery voltage, allowing users to glance at the remaining battery capacity throughout a shoot. Rigid.PRO Cinerig Bases have a built-in cable management system for hiding surplus cable and other accessories as well.

The Rigid.PRO Cinerig Base also features a clever recess for housing the mirrorless camera's flip-out screen, protecting it from accidents and offering convenient camera control and monitoring.

Cinerig Bases are manufactured using custom-designed anodized aluminum cheese plates on both the top and bottom, which provide almost limitless mounting positions for other components. They are perfect for tripod mounting, documentary or studio shooting, or run-and-gun applications.

Typically weighing just 500g, this minimal additional weight helps reduce micro-jitter, stabilising footage while remaining lighter overall than typical professional cinema cameras.

Rigid.PRO offers a range of Cinerig Bases for popular mirrorless cameras, including Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fujifilm, Panasonic, and more. Prices start at A$499, including free worldwide delivery, and you'll be supporting a Melbourne-based company too.
