Ricoh announces WG-70 rugged action camera
Ricoh has announced the latest iteration of its rugged compact camera: the WG-70.
At first glance the WG-70 is a very modest improvement over its predecessor: in fact it has the same 16MP 1/2.3-inch backside illuminated CMOS image sensor, the same 28-140mm zoom lens, the same 2.7-inch LCD, the same body design, and even its rugged features are still equally as...err rugged, with no changes to its waterproofness (14m) freezeproofness (-10 degrees) and shockproofness (1.6m).
So what's new? it's strictly in the software. There's a new ‘Digital Microscope’ mode that enlarges the subject being captured, a Macro mode, and an underwater shooting mode, which corrects for color shifts when shooting underwater.
The advantage of keeping the same form factor means the WG-70 will also work with Ricoh’s WG-series mount accessories.
There's no word on local pricing or availability yet, but keep an eye on the Ricoh website for updates.
