Peak Design announces new Form Strap line and Field Plate mounting system
Peak Design has announced a new range of camera straps and a redesigned camera mounting plate, expanding its line of practical accessories for photographers.
Form Rope and Form straps
The new Form Rope and Form Leather straps feature a minimalist, fixed-length design and a refined version of the company’s Anchor Link connection system.
Both versions aim to provide a simpler, cleaner look with low-profile hardware that integrates directly into the strap ends, removing the need for visible stitching or bulky fittings.
The Form Rope Strap is made from a custom braided nylon-polyester blend designed to balance flexibility, strength, and comfort. The Form Leather Strap uses full-grain ECCO leather with aluminium hardware and a sealed underside for smooth movement and grip.
Both options can support up to 90kg and are available in several lengths for neck and cross-body use. The Rope straps come in black, navy, and sage, while the Leather versions are offered in black, chestnut, and bone.
In addition, matching wrist straps, the Cuff Rope and Cuff Leather, complete the range.
Leather straps come in a choice of three colours: Black, Tan and Amber. Meanwhile, Rope straps are available in Black, Kelp (green) and Ocean (blue).
Prices for the new products vary depending on material, but the Cuff is $49.95 USD ($77 AUD) in both Leather and Rope, the Neck strap is $69.95 ($107) in Leather and $44.95 ($75) in Rope and the Long, Short, and Standard straps start at $39 USD for Rope models, and up to $79 ($123) for Leather versions.
Field Plate
Alongside the straps, Peak Design introduced the Field Plate, a tool-free camera mounting solution. It attaches to 1/4-20″ threads on camera bodies and works with Peak Design’s tripods, Capture clips, straps, and most third-party Arca-type tripod heads.
The plate uses a pop-up thumb drive mechanism to attach or detach a camera without tools, which means no more digging around in your bag for coins or allen keys. It will retail for $39 USD ($60 AUD).
Peak Design CEO Peter Dering said the new releases refine the company’s design philosophy. “With the new Form straps, we’ve distilled a decade of design into something classic and refined,” he said. “And the Field Plate makes the once-ordinary tripod plate feel like a tool worth celebrating.”
