Olympus announce M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-200mm F3.5-6.3 lens

Olympus has announced a new super telephoto zoom, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-200mm F3.5-6.3. Designed for Micro Four Thirds, the zoom is equivalent to 24-400mm on full-frame, and offers 16.6x magnification.

Despite the lack of a PRO label as used to distinguish Olympus' best quality glass, the 12-200mm still features a dustproof and splashproof build.

Olympus says this will offer the same level of protection as the sealing on the company's PRO range.

Featuring 16 elements in 11 groups, the company's ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) coating is also employed to reduce flare and ghosting.

The 12-200mm F3.5-6.3 does not feature any in-built stabilisation, instead relying on camera body IS. The lens uses Olympus' MSC (Movie and Still Compatible) focusing mechanism and provides quieter operation – which should make it a useful lens for video.

The M.ZUIKO 12-200mm f3.5-6.3 Lens will be available from late March 2019, with an RRP of $1299AUD.
