Nikon confirms Z6 II and Z7 II coming soon
Nikon has officially confirmed the full-frame mirrorless Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II cameras via a countdown page on its US website and local Facebook page.
Apart from the announcement release time (October 14th, 11pm AEDT), we don't have a huge amount of information to go on, although according to the latest report from Nikon Rumours, the new cameras are likely to be incremental updates over their predecessors, with the same body, sensor and EVF as the Z6 and Z7.
The changes will, according to Nikon Rumours at least, bring dual card slots to both models - CFexpress and SD (XQD/CFX type B, SD-UHS-II), a new battery, faster frame rate, more buffer memory, support for a vertical grip, an improved user interface and unfortunately, a higher price.
Interestingly, Nikon Rumours also state that the Z6 will be “the last Nikon camera with a 24MP sensor,” meaning that Nikon is possibly planning to move away from what is likely a Sony-made sensor in the first generation model.
We'll keep an eye out for any more updates over the next fortnight.
