Nikon announce Z 14-30mm F4 S lens

Nikon has announced the first ultra-wide zoom for their Z full-frame mirrorless system - the Nikkor Z 14-30mm F4 S lens. The new wide-angle weighs 485g, and also supports screw-in (82mm) filters thanks to a relatively flat front element, an unusual feature on a lens this wide.

Using a retractable design to keep the lens compact, the 14-30mm is also dust and drip-resistant. On the Inside is a total of 14 elements, including four aspherical and four ED. Nikon's Nano Crystal Coat should help reduce the effect of ghosting and flare, and a fluorine coating on the external elements will help protect from fingerprints and smudges.

Finally there's also a customizable control ring which can be assigned to handle manual focus, exposure compensation or aperture control.

The Nikkor Z 14-30mm F4 S will be available from April 2019.
