Nikon announce NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.8 S lens

Comments Comments

Nikon has announced the sixth S-Line lens, with the launch of the NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.8 S.

The new lens, the third prime in the S-Line, is 99mm long with a maximum diameter of 75mm, with a weight of 470 grams. It's also dust and drip-resistant.

The lens appears to share the same general design as both the 35mm and 50mm f/1.8 primes, including a fairly large ridged control ring.

The 85mm f/1.8 S features extra-low dispersion (ED) glass elements to improve image quality and manage axial chromatic aberration. A Nano Crystal Coat, Nikon's anti-reflection coating technology, should suppress ghost and flare, and an STM motor should keep the autofocus quiet.

The new NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.8 S will be available in September.
